Trading platforms supported by ComoFX
ComoFX lets you trade on three platforms from a single client portal account: MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, and TradeLocker. One set of login credentials, one funding wallet, three different interfaces. Most traders settle on one platform after a few weeks — but having all three available means you can switch as your strategy evolves without reopening accounts.
This section answers how to install, log in, place orders, manage risk, and troubleshoot the most common platform issues. Read in order if you are new; jump to the specific article if you already know your platform.
Platform comparison
MetaTrader 4 (MT4)
The forex specialist's choice. Best EA ecosystem, widest third-party tool support, lighter on system resources.
Best for: forex-only strategies with EAs
MetaTrader 5 (MT5)
More instruments, more order types, faster strategy tester. Multi-currency netting and equity support.
Best for: multi-market traders (forex + indices + metals)
TradeLocker
Modern web-first interface, native economic calendar, tight integration with prop-firm programs.
Best for: web-based traders, prop-firm participants
Where each platform runs
- Desktop (Windows / macOS): Native installer for MT4 and MT5. TradeLocker runs in any modern browser. Recommended for serious chart analysis.
- Web platforms: MT4 WebTerminal and MT5 WebTerminal — no install, just sign in. TradeLocker is web-native. Good for quick checks from a shared computer.
- Mobile (iOS / Android): All three platforms ship official mobile apps. Suitable for position monitoring and quick trade management — full chart analysis is easier on desktop.
Consider a VPS for load-shedding resilience
South African traders running EAs or holding positions overnight should consider a VPS in London or New York. Your laptop's uptime stops mattering and execution latency to liquidity servers drops significantly. Most brokers offer a free VPS once you trade a minimum monthly volume.
